Who we are

Cat Cover Compare is an independent UK cat insurance comparison website. We do not sell insurance ourselves — we help you find and compare policies from UK providers. Our registered contact is hello@catcovercompare.com.

What data we collect

We only collect data you voluntarily give us or that is necessary to run the website:

• Quote inputs: postcode area, cat age, breed and cover preferences. This is processed in your browser to generate estimates and is not stored on our servers.
• Email addresses: if you choose to join our newsletter, we store your email to send you updates. You can unsubscribe at any time.
• Usage data: anonymised analytics about how visitors use the site (pages visited, time on site, device type). We do not use this to identify individuals.

How we use your data

• To generate live insurance quote estimates in your browser.
• To send you newsletter emails if you have opted in.
• To improve the website based on anonymised usage patterns.
• To comply with legal obligations or respond to lawful requests.

We do not sell your personal data to insurers, comparison networks, or any third party. We do not share your email address with insurers when you click through to their sites.

When you click an insurer link on our site, you are taken to that insurer's website. The insurer may collect data according to their own privacy policy. We encourage you to read their policy before submitting any personal information. We are not responsible for how insurers handle your data once you leave our site.

Data retention

We keep email addresses for our newsletter until you unsubscribe, after which they are deleted within 30 days. Anonymised analytics data may be retained longer for statistical purposes. We do not retain quote input data on our servers.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Request correction or deletion of your personal data.
• Receive a portable export of your data in a machine-readable format.
• Object to or restrict certain types of processing.
• Withdraw consent at any time (e.g. unsubscribe from emails).

How to make a request

Most data we handle stays in your own browser, so you can act on it instantly. Visit Your data to view, export (as JSON) or permanently delete everything this site has stored on your device.

For data held on our servers — currently just newsletter email addresses — email privacy@catcovercompare.com from the address concerned, stating the type of request (access, export, correction, erasure or objection).

We acknowledge requests within 5 working days and complete them within 30 days. We may ask one verification question to confirm the request came from you. Routine requests are free. If you're unhappy with our response you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office.

Security

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access controls. However, no online service is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children's privacy

Our site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
